SUNDAY REFLECTIONS
Dear Brothers and sisters
I hope all have the Bible to refer to the readings before the reflections.
From this sunday's Gospel:
Jesus passed through the towns and villages,
teaching as he went and making his way to Jerusalem.
Someone asked him,
"Lord, will only a few people be saved?"
He answered them,
Strive to enter through the narrow gate,
for many, I tell you, will attempt to enter
but will not be strong enough.
After the master of the house has risen and locked the door
then you will stand outside knocking and saying,
'Lord, open the door for us.'
He will say to you in reply,
'I do not know where you are from.'
And you will say,
'we ate and drank in your company and you taught in our streets'
Then he will say to you,
'I do not know where you are from.
Depart from me, all you evildoers!'
Let me leave you with some questions to think about and find your own answers.
What do you think about this passage?
What do you think about Jesus' answer to the question?
Will only a few people be saved? Yes or No!
What is the narrow gate?
How do we know we are treading the narrow path?
According to the reading, it isn't enough to eat and drink with Jesus (communion?), to hear him preach in
your churches and streets (going to church?), it is walking the narrow path that leads to eternal life.
Let us look at the second reading for some answers to the first reading.
How do you understand the second reading?
Does the reading rings a bell about the narrow way?
Yes! the narrow path is thorny and rough. Only patience and perseverance is required to tread it to the end.
May God help us in our efforts to know him and to love him and to serve him.
